Who produces the directory?

The Organic Directory is edited by Clive Litchfield and published as a book and on the web by the Soil Association and Green Books.

What does the Organic Directory cover?

The directory lists information and contact details of nearly 2,000 UK organisations supplying organic goods and services. These include retailers, box schemes, farm shops, manufacturers, restaurants and accommodation. We list all organic outlets we know about, not just those certified by the Soil Association.

Disclaimer

All the information in this directory has been gathered from the entrants themselves and from information supplied by some organic certifiers. Not all entries in the directory are certified as organic and we have not verified any claims as to whether any produce described is 100% organic. Please note therefore that we cannot be held responsible for any claims made as to the quality of the produce or goods offered. There has recently been a proliferation of 'green' labelling schemes, and we advise you to satisfy yourself as to the validity of any such claims.

All restaurants, cafés and other food outlets listed claim to use some organic produce. In order to encourage the use of organic produce we have listed uncertified outlets that claim to use some organic produce. The amount of organic produce used by uncertified outlets may vary according to local seasonal availability or other factors. Please assure yourself as to the amount of organic produce used at any given time or on any given menu.
